Lose my retirement pay? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I am 69 years old, retired Navy Enlisted (E-6)(1981), and have lived in Panama for almost 10 years. The DoD FMR is really confusing and is not clear about whether I will lose my retirement if I become a citizen of Panama. I don't want to denounce my citizenship with the USA, and have no intention of doing that, but since I live here in Panama and are settled here on a permanent basis, I would like to become a Panamanian citizen so I can vote here in the local elections. Does anyone have any experience in this area out there? If so, can you give me a reference, some authority that I can understand? Thank you, Bob |
