Med Board in AIT

What is the name of your state? Michigan. But my wife is stationed at Fort Bliss in Texas. Right now, she's at the end of her AIT training. In fact, if she was graduating, it would be with honors and at the top of her class. But, unfortunately, she's been struggling with stress fractures the past several months and hasn't been able to take a PT test. Things are even worse because the doctor misdiagnosed which ankle it was in and so the problems just multiply. Since she hasn't been able to take a PT test (she's told that if she runs, for example, she'll most likely break her hip), they're now talking med board. It's frustrating 'cause she's at the very end of this period and our family could be reunited soon if she were just graduating. Now, of course, it will be even longer before we see her because it takes Army so bloody long to do everything. But we'd rather she was able to stay in Army, if that's a possibility. We're nervous about what sort of disability pay she'd get, even though, of course, this problem originated here.

Does anyone have any experience with such problems at AIT? Anyone have any advice? I mean, Army needs bodies and she's signed up for 4 years beyond that stuff. If they could just let her stay off her feet for a while, she'd probably get better (at least, that's our understanding). Any advice?

Have her continuously go see the Doc!

This may sound mean but my advice is to get off profile by dropping the stress fracture issue. Tell the doc it's healed. She can then begin to PT and graduate. The easiest way to get done is to graduate. It's not like she has to run the 2 miles in 12 minutes - she can almost walk it and graduate.

It's gonna take forever for her to get an MEB where she's at and they will lost likely keep her in a PTRP status. That won't be fun for anyone.
