Medical Omission at MEPSWhat is the name of your state? Oregon Briefly: Was active duty Army during mid-to-late 90's. Got "the itch" to rejoin the military in late 2006, and joined with reserves. Just transfered to National Guard a few months ago. Problem is, is in early 2004 I saw a shrink several times over a whammy of circumstances: lost job/wife all in one week. When I went to MEPS, I honestly forgot about it; it was an awful month for me back then, and I had put it out of my mind. Everything is good with my SC, enlistment, etc. Only problem is me. I am an honest person. I've really had a tough couple of months weighing what to do here... How do I go about revealing this, and what penalties could I face? thank you-What is the name of your state? |

| Normally, "temporary counseling" for a major event is excluded from the reporting requirement anyway. If no meds were prescribed and you weren't diagnosed with anything chronic/serious then you probably didn't have to report it anyway. Without knowing the exact wording on your paperwork, however, I couldn't be certain. Since the issue seems relatively minor (if all you needed was some temporary help to get over a crisis) there probably wouldn't be any repercussions if you reported it now, or just made sure to include it in the paperwork of your next physical/medical visit, noting that you may have forgotten to report it earlier. |
