Navy Re-4

NC.

"I know this may be a long shot but I have been reading about the military's lax recruiting standards now. I was separated from the Navy in 1994 with a general under honorable conditions (re-4) code. I was admittedly wrong and accepted my fate. I was a Naval Recruiter and I had an affair with a Depper. I'm now looking to see if I can get that code upgraded to enlist into the Army. I was in the Navy for 9 years and was an E-5, (ET2 (ss)), If anyone has any information that might be helpful please let me know."

Upgrading a RE-4 is a toughyyyyyy. I think you will have to appeal to the board of corrections or beg borrow and plead for a waiver.

The discharge being a General Under Honorable is not going to hurt you too much for re-enlisting, but that RE-4 is going to be tough to get around.

Fozzy (one of our better contributers) put it well when he said "the government's view is once bitten twice shy". Actually, I don't know the exact quote anymore but that is close to it.

Good luck and best of luck.

You *may* have a shot at the Army or National Guard, but that's about it... It's all in the Separation Code.

A Naval RE-4 is looked at differently because the Navy issues RE-4 in some situations that would garner an RE-3 from other services.

Now, if the Separation Code is along the lines of "KFS" (Good of the Service, in lieu of court martial), you will not be admitted into any branch of the armed forces.

The only one who can answer this is Army Recruiting HQ. Get in touch with a detailer and have them help you submit the paperwork.
