You could hope for an OTH discharge at best. Depending on the circumstances and variables surrounding your desertion the punishment will only become more severe. I would venture to say that people of your caliber possessing this type of discharge or worse can undoubtedly remove any inkling of hope to ever work in any aspect of law enforcement. Law enforcement is a military style environment as well. What makes you think you would make it in the next if you couldn't hack it in the first place?

You'll more than likely recieve an OTH discharge if you turn yourself in, and don't get caught by police. What branch are you UA from?

But as for going into law enforcement, I'm not gonna say that it's impossible, ( I know some officers who are in but they A TON of waivers) but, it's hard as hell and highy improbable, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

look man, dont think you can judge other people because no one is perfect. not even you. everyone makes mistakes and believe me, it takes a brave person to do what i did. i served in iraq and korea with honorable mentions this was a personal issue, so please take your bigotry somewhere else. thank you

You didn't "serve...with honorable mentions," because that's not what they're called. And no serviceperson calls their honors by the wrong name. What do you think we are, a bunch of drunken teenagers?

Further, it's not "bigotry" to have an opinion. It's a perfectly valid opinion, and I can't imagine what else you might expect from posting your sad story on the world wide web. There are no guarantees that you will be met with ~hugs~ and ~kisses.~

I agree that you as a deserter have no chance in that hot place of ever getting a job in "law enforcement." Or anything like it, except, perhaps, mall security.

I am not a bigot. My view of your actions is universally accepted. Brave men are generally known to do what is hardest and fight the good fight. I think it is cowards who are associated with running from adversity. Every member of the military has faced some sort of hardship during their enlistments. I am sure in your mind you have rationalized your actions and made what you did acceptable. The fact is you made a selfish choice to serve your own agenda and now you will have to pay the consequences. Please take your undeserved sense of entitlement with you when you stand in front of the commander handing down your punishment.
