VA i met my ex husband in 2004 when he was still in the marines. in 2005 he got out of the marines. we divorced in 2006. got back together to work things out august of 2006. i found out i was six weeks pregnant at the end of October of 2006. since then he had been denying my son. he went into the army in November of 2006. he left me for good three weeks till my due date in 2007. my son is almost two, he just recently came to terms that he thinks he might be the father. he was in Iraq this past year and he told me he would look into taking a DNA test when he got back. i haven't heard from him in two months. he told me he wants joint custody. do i get any free legal services, i am his first wife? | No, it doesn't belong in Military Law. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the military. Repost in Family Law, and ask an actual question when you do. There's no question in your post. Quote:

| You should apply for services at your local child support office (NOT SUPPORT KIDS). They will do genetic testing for you, get you a court order for him to pay child support and garnish his military pay. While he is deployed he is protected under the soldier and sailors act so child support couldnt touch him and besides the child support offices in the United States do not have reciprocity with Iraq or Afghanistan so it wouldnt matter anyway, but the second he gets back they will get him. Hope that helps ![]() |
