Please answer awol question

What is the name of your state? tx

I have read all the post on awols and still have a few questions. please forgive me if some of them are repeated due to my own error in overlooking the answer somewhere else.
I went awol from ait in ga almost 30 days ago. I called one of the gihotline numbers to see if i had been dropped from roll and he asked for my ssn and name and then said he didnt have anything on me. Do i continue to wait until I have been dropped from roll or can I still show up at ft. sill and not worry about being shipped back to ga since it was a training environment. If I need to wait until they tell me Ive been dropped then I will do so but I need to know please. I was mostly concerned that my 30 days is almost up. does it matter if you go to ft sill after 30 days if you werent dropped from roll yet?

First of all, it usually takes at least 30 days to be considered DFR. I was gone for over three months before I turned my self in last week. Try calling around 35 days, and see if you are DFR'd yet. If you show up before being DFR'd, your probably gonna be sent back to train. Oh and go on a Tuesday to Ft. Sill when you go.

I'm prior Military Police from USMC....

It takes 30 days to be considered a deserter. Anything before that and the military will do nothing to "find you". Even after your considered a deserter, the military will usually wait until your in contact with police before it'll even show up. I went and got a guy who was a deserter for almost 30 years. We went and got him, he did his 30 days in the brig and was released. End of story, but I'm not sure how the army is.
