possible fraudulent enlistment by recruiter

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

I enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1993, delayed entry until 1994. After BT and AIT, I did several months of reserve training with my unit. Due the my job at the time, I could not go to drills regularly, and my first sergeant and I agreed to put me on IRR.

Several years passed (I think it was 97 or 98), and I thought about getting off IRR, and maybe switching MOS. I went to the local recruiting office, and asked what my options were. The recruiter working with me seemed very concerned and asked if I've ever lived at an address (that I've never heard of). I was told that my SSN was used, possibly by another recruiter to assign me to another unit, and that I was listed as AWOL from that unit.

I was told to call back later and they would investigate. They seemed to have just sat on it. I got the impression that they just wanted me to go away. I eventually asked to speak to someone in JAG about my being fraudulently enlisted without my knowledge.

No one ever called me back. When I called back, no one knew what I was talking about.

Life got busy, and this went from back burner to oblivion. Now I am concerned. I want to know what I look like in the eyes of the Army and the government.

What are my options? How should I handle the situation?

Thank you.
