Punished for AFOSI statement?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

A few months ago, OSI called me at work and asked me to stop by and answer some questions about a friend who was being investigated. I voluntarily stopped by after work and answered questions and provided a written statement to OSI on my friend. At no time did they read me my rights. I haven't heard from OSI since then.

The next day I was fired from 2 positions. (I lost the position I had been hired into...I was in the process of a PCA when I made the statement. And, I lost the current job I was in at the time.) They told me I was replaced for "manning" issues.

I'm new to this forum and clueless about military law. I'm currently trying to read everything I can. I don't know where to start to see if there is anything that protects people when they make voluntary statements to OSI. I would appreciate any help/thoughts. I am considering going to the IG...not sure if that's the right place for this type of thing.

I purposely didn't mention the reason I "think" I got canned because it shouldn't matter for my question. I have not done anything illegal or improper nor do I think my statement could be misconstrued as such. I don't want to color the answers too much and make this question about another issue. Let's just say I think it was because of a bias or "perception" that isn't true nor is it at all written in the statement I made. I guess I'm hoping to hear some people's thoughts so I can make a more informed decision about what to do. This might be a can of worms I don't want to open with my command.

Who's your employer?

You said you were "fired" - does that mean you're a federal employee working for the military? Or are you a contractor? Or some hybrid (like a NG who's military on the weekends and a civilian employee during the week)? Different employees - different rules of employment.
