Punishment for Husband's Mistake

What is the name of your state AZ?

Last weekend my husband made a huge mistake and "fooled around" with a fellow enlisted service member. They are the same rank and I don't know if she is married. There was a lot of drinking involved which is no excuse but he came home and confessed imediately.

Unfortunately, rumors have started and his chain of command were some of the people that recently heard the info. At this point it is just a rumor and she has denied everything. He is on leave so no one has talked to him about it. I'm sure someone could ask him but if the chain of command has no proof and I don't come foward, can they process off the words of rumors? There is no other proof what so ever.

I'm very upset with his actions but do not want his career effected. The problems that are now happening with us are punishment enough.

Thank you
