Question about Fort Sill...

What is the name of your state? California.

I'm going to turn myself in at Fort Sill at the end of this month. My question is about what to bring. I dont have any of my military gear so I know I owe the military money. Should I bring civilian clothes or will I be wearing BTUs? If I do have to bring civis, should I expect the MP's to steal or lose my stuff? Cause I am the guy who went AWOL, you know.

Where will they put me? With the others, (if any) who went AWOL?

Also I can't seem to find it but is there a number to call Fort Sill like a deserter phone line?

Thank you for your time.

Dude.

Well I can tell you what they do for people who are AWOL and come back to Ft Stewart, Ga because I'm a MP down here.

No uniform then just wear civis of course. Make sure your clean shaven because they will make you do it when you get to the base if your not already. No we wont steal your stuff or take it away. That's rediculous.

You stationed at Sill or somewhere else? If you arnt they will arrange some way for you to get to your base where you will be picked up by either MPs or DoD Police. They will take you to the PMO and do some paperwork on you and put you into the COPS system that we use for reports. They will call your chain of command letting them know you returned and they will come and get you. You shouldn't be in there very long at all. Only as long as it takes them to finish the report and getting your NCOs to come pick you up. If you have any of your NCOs phone numbers still you could give them a heads up your coming back.

I suggest you go to this very resourceful website used a lot by soldiers and look at the section labled AWOL/UA http://girights.objector.org/ There is also a phone number you can call and they will help you a lot. Call that number they will tell you everything you need to know.

Sorry I completely missled you. I was dropped from the rolls, so I'm passed the AWOL point, I've been gone for at least a year and a half. I was originally at Ft Benning. I did call a number I think it was for the east coast, They told me I have no warrent but it could be issued when ever. They told me that I need to go to Ft Sill and they will discharge me.

Turned myself in there...

Where whatever you want...comfy stuff, because you'll change into them at the end of the day(s).

If you use any kind of tobacco, bring a lot with you. They won't take it, and let you use it.

Backup a second - When I was there, the civilians were taking more of a "control" over the PCS, the NCO's were taking more of a back seat. If anything has changed, I don't know/haven't heard about it.

They will give you BDU's, boots, etc. (All of which you will give back)

You wake up, go eat chow, come back, do some stupid details, eat, details, eat, go back for personal time/use the phone. Pretty simple stuff.

Good luck...
