Re 04 Code ??Can anyone provide me with more info?? What is the name of your state?CA CAN I GET MY RE04 CODE READJUSTED IF I GOT A HONORABLE DISCHARGE BUT A RE04 CODE? WITH A MBK. I PLEAD GUILTY on 07JUNE05 by SD courts for assault 240PC, and my ship thinks that is grounds for an RE4 Code. CVN-76 FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW. I TOLD MY CMC ABOUT IT WHO TOLD MY XO ,SUPPOSEDLY, WHO TOLD THE ADMIN OFFICER, WHO TOLD THE CO, AFTER THE JAG HEARD ABOUT IT SUPPOSEDLY. I WROTE MY CA SENATOR BARBARA BOXER, AND ALSO THE CA GOVERNORS OFFICE THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. SO TELL ME IF YOU DON'T THINK IT'S CONFUSING ALSO, CAUSE I'M STILL CONFUSED. O BY THE WAY I ALSO HAVE A GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL ,AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY NJP'S DURING MY FOUR YEARS. SO IF YOU CAN PROVIDE ME WITH ANY INFO SO BE IT!!! I DON'T CARE ABOUT SCREWING OVER ANY BODY WHO WANTS TO FRADUENTLY DESTROY MY CAREER.!!! |

| AFAIK you can get a correction via the board for correction of military records, but they will only "correct" the code if it was issued in error, etc. I'm not aware of any law, regulation, or policy that would prevent you from getting re-enlistment code of RE-4 while also getting an Honorable Discharge. It might be a bit unusual, but I don't think it is illegal or contrary to policy. The re-enlistment code is not considered "derogatory" by the military, it is simply an administrative code concerning your ability to re-enlist in the military, i.e. what might happen in the future. Your character of service (Honorable) describes your PAST conduct. It is a record of what did happen. In short, your service record indicates that your past conduct in the military warrrants an Honorable discharge -- but your command (or navy policy) does not believe that you can serve in the military in the *future* and hence have given you an RE-4. An RE-4 is not necessarily due to misconduct, some RE-4 subcodes deal with people who have met statutory maximum time in service, etc. Unless you can find some fault with the process by which the RE code was awarded ( does the command need permission to utilize it? ), you will probably keep it. I think you can appeal to the Service Secretary for a waiver, but I'll bet those are long odds. |
