RE-4 Honorable

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

Hello,

I was prior service Navy in 2002 and was discharged in 2006 honorably with a RE-4 code due to a case of major depression due to stress of my duty station. I have been checked out by a civilian doctor since then and I am 100% healthy in mind and body.

Is there anyway to get my reentry code changed in order to join the National Guard or Coast Guard?

RE-4 Waiver

Under certain circumstances you must complete a psychiatric evaluation and get a full writeup.

Now being cleared by a Medical Doctor is not the same as a Psych Doctor.

National Guard does accept these types of waivers, however you have to have the medical
and psychological clearance in order to obtain this.

You can petition the Naval Board of Military Correction (BMCR)

You will have to prove that the RE code was given in error, or a mistake

You are facing an uphill battle that will probably result in being denied,
but . . . you'll never know if you don't try
