As far as I know they *can*, but they won't. Why would they bother to change the RE code unless someone was asking/complaining about it? I'm not aware of any automatic upgrades in RE codes. Someone has to get the review process started.

re code change

I hear what you are saying.I never had a problem with my re code.I never wanted them to review an re code change.I just wanted to see if I could get back in.So they can change an re code anytime they wanted but it doesn't happen unless someone complains about it.

Why would you have a need for an RE-Code change based off a medical condition?

The only Medical conditions that would be readmitted onto active duty would come with an RE-3... An RE-4 is a permanent disqualifier.

I think you may be referring to the RE-Code waiver process for enlistment... This is done when a medical condition has been overcome, and you are now potentially fit for duty (after a medical examination).

re code change

I was tring to get back in. The Marine Corps change my re code from 3p to3f. I went to the local recuiter and the said I can not re enlist because of the re code 3f. I was going to waste their time.Let me make this clear.I never requested an re code change. The Marine Corps change it.

So find out from the Marine why they changed it. What does it say on your DD214?
And were you issued a new DD214 in place of your original? How long were you in?
What type of discharge did you receive?

You don't need the RE Code changed, you only need a waiver (as far as the Army is concerned... Each service is different).

Quote:
Table 3–4
U.S. Marine Corps reentry eligibility codes
Code Definition
RE –1, 1A, 2A, 3A, and 3U Applies to: Eligible to reenlist.
Eligibility: Qualified to enlist provided all other criteria are met.

RE–1B, 1C, 2C, , 3C, 3D, 3E, 3F, 3H, 3J, 3N, 3O, 3P, 3R, 3S, 3T, 3V, and 3W
Applies to: Personnel separated with disqualifications.
Eligibility: Not eligible unless a waiver is granted.

RE–2, 2B, 4, and 4B
Applies to: Not eligible to reenlistment.
Eligibility: Not qualified for enlistment.
