Re-Enlistment to Army with Sep. from Air Force??

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California.

~*

One week after my 17th birthday I enlisted into the USAF (2007) and left for BMT a week after that. I was Security Forces, but unfortunately didn't make it through BMT. I was going through some tough times, parents just divorced (father disowned me entirely for his new family) and I'd graduated early (finished an entire years worth of credits in a month) and I was extremely tired...I really enjoyed basic (I'm sick, I know) but I guess all the stress added on to the natural hectic environment of the military put too much on my body and I collapsed on the PT field. They took me to the hospital where the nurses saw me crying (how could I not, I thought I was going home for sure and I didn't really know what had happened until later). Somehow they mistook this as a personality/mental disorder and I couldn't "adjust" to military lifestyle which isn't true.

They told me during my separation that there was nothing I could do and being 17 and completely naiive, I believed it. So now, a few years later (I'm 19) I'm looking back on my documents and going, "Wait a minute..."

It says I have JFX on my dd214 for re-entry and also that I'm not allowed to re-enlist into the air force...however, it says nothing about the Army.

I did try to contact a Navy recruiter, told him my story and gave him my paperwork and he never called me back. Every time I tried to go in and see him he was 'out of the office' and the one time I did see him (in the local store) he left his basket behind and left as soon as he saw me.

I would like to get into the Army (would love to get back into the air force, but I doubt that can happen??) or even the ROTC program. I've lost my security clearance (the paperwork says).

So, in short, this is what I have:

JFX re-entry (not eligible for re-entry into the USAF), Uncharacterized Entry Level Separation as of 29 Jun 07.

How do I get back in/is it possible to enlist into another branch and what steps should I take? Not having any luck with recruiters, they aren't answering my questions or seem to be avoiding me.

Thanks in Advance.
Leah

Separation code: JFX = Personality Disorder.

The only way you will get into ANY branch of service is to pass a Psych Eval. You *might* find an Army Recruiter hurting enough to go through this process, but honestly, with the crappy economy and the Army at 113% end strength, you will have a tough go of it.

You may have a better chance with the local National Guard (to got your foot in the door).

Right now waivers are not being considered, but "medical" waivers can be processed by the Army. This is technically a medical waiver, but PDs have always been a long shot at best. Add to it that you will be considered Prior Service or "DOS Prior Service" (Less than 180 days on Active Duty), and the waiver just became that much harder to obtain.

Go talk to the Army National Guard. You may be able to enlist through them, and later transfer to Active Duty. I am not sure of their waiver status, but if your state is hurting, they may process you. Good luck.
