security clearance

What is the name of your state? AE
I have a question about security clearances. I'm about to be involuntarily discharged with a general discharge for misconduct. I have a security clearance. How does this affect my clearance? Is it revoked? The unit has not gone to S2 and placed a hold on my clearance or submitted paperwork to have it suspended or revoked as they are preparing to deploy here shortly. I just want to know will my clearance still be any good. I've had it for the past 6 years. Thanks.

If you are asking will you still have a security clearance when you are discharged the simple answer is: no. The instant you leave the military you lose your clearance and have to get a new one. Of course, if you have a clearance when you leave the military (and have had timely updates, background checks, etc.) then it is much easier for you to get it renewed when you get a new employer. However, simply because paperwork hasn't been filed on you by your unit doesn't mean that you should count on getting a new clearance (or job that depends on one). A "less than honorable discharge" from the military is one of the major criterion used to determine whether or not you will be give a clearance, and then you said your discharge was due to "misconduct." Every case is handled seperately, but I wouldn't count on a civilian job requiring a clearance, at least for a while.

Not entirely correct. As long as your background investigation is still good, you can still have a clearance when you leave active duty. You didn't mention what level clearance you have... The big thing is not to let it "lapse". If you had just got it adjucated this past year I wouldn't worry. If it's been several years, then I'd worry. Just get on w/ a company that will keep your clearance up to date, and stay out of trouble.
