Soldier divorceWhat is the name of your state? Trying to research a situation for someone. Here it is: Male soldier is married to a wife in Florida. He is stationed in Hawaii. He will be deploying in June. He is engaged to a soldier in Kentucky and wants to divorce wife in Florida. Says it is not going to be contested. How long will this take to go between the states and everything? No kids in the marriage. Will the divorce process be done by the time he deploys? Thank you. |

| What state would he be filing for divorce in? Also btw he is committing adultery if he is engaging in sexual activity with the soldier from Kentucky, which is punishable under UCMJ.

| Oh, I know he is sleeping with her. But I think his wife would have to know or fight it for something to be done. Maybe? Anyways, he left for Hawaii today so he may have filed in KY yesterday or if not it would have to happen once he gets to Hawaii. Any ideas on how it will work either way. I never said I agreed with what was happening. ![]() |

If it is a no contest divorceHe can file after he has been in Hawaii for 6 months. If he wants it done before that his wife will have to file in Florida. They will serve him the papers wherever he is and if he agrees with what is in them he just signs them and sends them back. His wife will go to court in Florida and a judge will sign off on it. Case closed all done. If however his wife were for any reason were to ask for something he does not agree with he would have to go to Florida to contest it. If he filed in Kentucky before he left and she signs the papers then he or his lawyer will have to take the papers to a judge and have them signed off on. |
