UA 2 months, turning myself in

finished boot camp, MCT, MOS school, hit my my perm duty station. after 1 month went UA. its been 2 months.

anyway i flew to another state originally, my duty station being pendleton.

my question is if i fly back to CA pendleton to turn myself in, will i get arrested at the airport?? I read its best to turn yourself in so i don't want to get arrested on my way to do so.

also if i read correctly, theres no way to determin if you've been DFR'd now? I'm looking to be discharged but don't want to turn myself in if i haven't beeen DFR'd yet.

last, even after 2 months i'm still being payed......i havent touched the money as i don't want any complication when i turn myself in, but if im still being paid does that mean i don't even have a warrent out yet? does that likly mean i'm not DFR'd yet?

Clarifications

Unlikely but not impossible to get arrested at the airport. Security mainly checks the do-not-fly list, but there's no guarantee that they couldn't look for warrants. You most likely do have a warrant at this point. The safest way to turn yourself in is to go by bus, but that can take a long time.

Reports say that roughly half of the cases at Pendleton are resolved with summary court martial followed by administrative separation for misconduct. You could also turn yourself in at Quantico, which has a much more consistent record on discharge instead of court-martial.

DFR is mostly applicable to the Army, not to the Marines or other branches. The Marines' regulation (MCO P5800.16A, Section 5010) generally indicates that an absence of 180 days or more is more likely to result in discharge rather than return to unit. However, reports from Quantico and Parris Island (but not Pendleton) are that absences of only 30 days often result in discharge. So the Marines go by calendar days absent, not by DFR.

Your pay was supposed to have been stopped but the fact that it hasn't may be an indication that someone screwed up rather than that your absence hasn't been noticed. Note, once again, DFR isn't the issue, it's number of days since you were reported absent.

Your only option is to return and take your lumps. The longer you stay gone the worse your punishment will be.

Objetora, be very careful. You are dangerously close to violating Federal law.
