UA ten years ago

I would like some information about UA status. I went UA in 1997 from the USMC reserves and have never recieved my discharge. I have made calls to my reserve center and they said it was sent to headquarters. I have also had a few speeding tickets and nothing has ever happened. I since have receieved financial aid for a bachelors degree and am currently working on my masters with financial aide. I would actually like to enlist in the navy or army as a chaplain but I am afraid I will not be able to because of my discharge. I do not hav a DD214 or any other papers. Is this a feasible plan and how do I find out my discharge? My grandfather died at the time and I fell into alcohol which is no excuse but things happen. I regret it now but trying to make ammends with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
