| Ua FYI: Nobody on this site is going to give you advice on being UA or when to turn yourself in. USMC handles ua's on an individual basis, so there is no predicting what length of time is better or worse. So, unless you have a private military attorney, GI Rights can give the best advice - in my opinion. Those volunteers are trained to lay everything out for GI's as best they can in most situations, not just discharge/ua. (I also know they do need donations). Good for your mother for anticipating and being prepared; she knows you well.
When you get to Quantico, you MAY be sent to the barracks where they put you to work all day. How long is up in the air-individual basis, again. That's what happened to my brother, and he said lots of guys were there in the same position. Make sure you have everything you may need as far as documents, etc.
I can tell you that Marines look for guys after 6 mos and that's not something you want to risk having to deal with-they shouldn't have to waste manpower on that, and don't appreciate the guys they're looking for... That's all I can tell you. Good luck to you. |
