Verbal Contracts with Nevada National Guard

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nevada

Myself and a couple of other soldiers were given a verbal contract that our bonus schedule would be changed from the original written contract. The original contract stated that we would recieve half our bonus after completion of our MOS school and the other half would be received once we have completed half of our contract.

The verbal agreement stated we would receive half of our bonus before we went to our MOS school and the other half would be received upon successful completion of the school. This, we were told was only for the prior service personell who signed with the NV ANG. Normally I would not follow up with this since the military is well known for not following through with verbal contracts however, they started paying on the verbal contract pay schedule.

Myself and other individuals received half of our enlistment bonuses before we attended the MOS school so I am assuming that would provide the bonus as part of the verbal agreement made after the written one. The full circle of a verbal agreement of Offer, Acceptance and Consideration have been met to enforce the verbal agreement.

Finally, we were asking for help from our command about the monies we were owed to include at least 5 other pay issues which still have not been resolved dating back to my re-enlistment into the military on Sept 11th 2007 and the other soldiers have some of their own pay issues that are not resolved either. The more we ask about money the more we get stonewalled and now it seems that our asking is starting to reflect on our creditability in the unit we are in. Not to mention they are now putting up firewalls to keep us from contacting the unit we are in directly and are now forced to go through the chain of command whereas in the other 12 years I have been in, pay issues were brought directly the command element to have them resolved immediatly.

Respectfully,

Then . . . contact the Inspector General (IG) if you are not getting satisfaction
