Why

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pa

Im in rotc so im in no way condeming anyone for their actions i just have a curious question as to why a person would go awol? It boggles my mind that a person would go through all that training and all the emotional hardship of becoming a soldier of this great country and then decide to go awol.

Is it a way to get out of the military without serving the time that was on the persons contract, again im not here to offend anyone but as to better understand why a person would go awol.
