bank failed to file lien

I sold my real estate. A title search was completed. No mortgage lien was recorded with the town. I am making mortgage payments on the loan but used the loan proceeds for other purposes, did not pay off the loan. Now the bank has realized that the property has been sold. Am I in big trouble?? State: Vermont
