California HOA and Foreclosure

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California,
I let my home go into foreclosure last November, NOD filed in January 2008, Sale took place May 14, 2008 and the HOA is badgering me for back payments. However that is not the problem, They are threatening and badgering someone who lived with me and never owned the home, The HOA assumed it was my wife, I purchased the home in my name only, and the foreclosure was done in my name, she never made any payments nor did she have any monetary interest in home, I need to know what I need to do to get them off her back. Its my responsibility solely since I owned the property. I just read on another site that the HOA becomes a personal liability, but how can that take place with no signed documents, or no disclosures. Thanks

There is almost certainly notice of the HOA incorporation that was provided to you ages ago when you bought the property. You don't have to sign anything. It was an existing encumberance on your deed when you bought it.

Your roomie should use the avenues available to her via the fair debt collection practices. The guys in the debt collections area can possibly help.
