California release of mortage issueWhat is the name of your state? California My wife and I bought a house in California in 2001. We have a mortage with the previous owner, Private Mortage. When we are done paying the mortage, what forms must we or them sign and have notorized and file with the County Recorder? Thanks Also I have a Grant Deed and a Note Secured by Deed of Trust the only two documents I have. Last edited by pcmentor; 06-18-2007 at 02:51 PM. |

| Typically in CA you can expect that the mortgage holder will stamp your lien as being paid in full and will send it for recording on your behalf. There are a number of states in which the mortgage company is NOT required to record the lien release (mortgage paid in full) on behalf of the customer, so you may want to check with your county recorder or local court clerk. |
