Can a foreclosure sale be vacated?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
What can be done re: a foreclosure sale that I beleive was done improperly? Can I repurchase the property with the lender who it was sold back to? Whree should I start, I am desperate?

Explain why you believe it to have been done improperly? Are you referring to the Sheriff's Sale, or the sibsequent sale to the buyer after the mortgage holder got the property back?
