Closed Mtg company did not report satisfaction of lien

Georgia - Greenpoint Mortgage ,which is now closed apparently, did not report a satisfaction of the lien when the Borrower refinanced. This was found by her current servicer who looks like they are in 2nd position when they are really 1st. Borrower's credit report shows paid. How does this situation get resolved and who does it?

**A: consult a real estate attorney who would know what to do.
