Could have paid off mortgage !!!!

What is the name of your state? OHIO
Mortgage got behind due to medical problems. I was told I was in danger of foreclosuer in Oct 04. I came up with the back payments and found a company willing to refi. Called Chase Manhattan Mortgage and told them I would have the back payments in 2 days and I was told they "would more than likely accept" this arrangement and that I "was NOT in foreclosure yet". 2 days later I called and was told I had in fact been truned over for foreclosure and I had to speak to the atty's. When I called the laywer's office they didn't know who I was nor did they have any paperwork from Chase. I was told to call Chase, who promptly told me I had to call the lawyer, who told me to call Chase. This when on for a month I couldn't get anyone to accept the $$. Even the company who was going to do the refi called! I hired one of those "stop foreclosure"companies ($1000.00) and nothing has helped! The refi company has backed out and Chase says I owe 11K in backpayments, fees, and penalties! When in Oct I could have paid them off in full IF they had accepted the $$ I had!

My question is Can I sue Chase? I was told because they could have been paid in full before the foreclosure started Chase may be at fault.. Is this true? I am at my wits end and do not want o lose what little I have! HELP
