Eviction Process- Mortgagee Sale

What is the name of your state? Rhode Island

We live in a multiple family building. A mortgage sale took place on July 11th. As far as we know, American Home Mortgage has bought the building. We have heard mixed things, an eviction notice is coming, maybe we'd be able to stay, etc. How long do we have to live at the current address? Who do we pay rent to? What if repairs need to be done? Can we just move out?

What if 2 people leave and the rest stay. Is a new lease drawn up? Any help would be apreciated.

You, and everyone in the building should get official notification by mail on what will happen, if anything happens at all. The new owner will probably just assume the existing leases and contracts. The sale alone doesn't give you the right to break your lease and walk away. All rumors are just that- rumors. Just keep checking the mail.
