What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state? California
When someone refinances their house and obtains a new mortgage, is evidence of the refinance available through public records? If so, what would one look for in the public records as evidence that the house was, indeed, refinanced?
The situation: I lent my ex-husband money to assist with the supposed refinance of his house so as to reduce his financial burden. He refuses to send me copies of the mortgage papers and I would like to know if he did, in fact, refinance the house or is using the money he borrowed for some other purpose. One year has now passed and I can find no evidence of his refinance in the public records for the county in which he resides.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| | | Any mortgage would have to be recorded at your county recorders office. Try calling them and asking your question. Hopefully they'll look it up for you and tell you over the phone. If they won't look it up for you, go to the office in person. Explain the situation and ask nicely for their assistance. They will show you how to look it up. | |
