Filing and divorce

What is the name of your state?LA
My divorce will not be final until End of January. Just looking for best way to file for 2005. Legally separate July 22. I was told to file head of household.
I have two kids to claim. Wondering if I need to negotiate mtg interest, etc because I received a 12,000 bonus not taxed at the time I received it (before separation). Put my income slightly above his. If I file separate from him, I will be responsible for taxes on bonus?
