Don't sign a mortgage and if you ever do sign a mortgage make sure the payments are made. As for it not being foreclosed upon -- it could have been and someone could have bought it and leased it to her or given it to her. Was she on the mortgage???? Or just the deed?
Deed does NOT mean mortgage. Two different things. Not equal at all.
As for getting it off your record, you can't if there was a foreclosure and you were on the mortgage.
