Foreclosure Question...

What is the name of your state?MI

My home was foreclosed and sold..there is a court date set for this next year about the sale etc. I do not dispute the forclosure but, I wonder if there is anything I can do to help the debt on my end.

My Ex husband said he was making house payments and taking care of everything before the foreclosure hit. ( He was making payments all right..to his own bank account) at the time we were married..anyway the money went to his personal account that he had out of state..he then quit his job and walked out on me and three kids.

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to lessen the debt on myself? I don't dispute the debt is owed but, I was stupid to trust my then husband. I just want to finish rebuilding my life for my children and myself. I would eventually like to have a new home instead of renting. I work and pay my bills..I do not own a CC or nor do I want one. Can I try to get a hardship type of verdit and lessen the damages I'd have to pay? I have the divorce papers that state the debt is split equally.

**A: and what did your mortgage lender tell you when you inquired? Lenders do not recognize divorces when mortgage liability is concerned.

I'd honestly suggest that the best way to move on is to work on fixing your credit, since divorce and foreclosure have had a major negative impact. Try looking at Amazon for books about credit repair and credit after bankruptcy (not your issue, but very similar in terms of the obstacles you have to overcome).

**A: please read the post again. The question posed was if anything could be done to lessen the debt/damages.

The answer is what's done is done, and now it's about repairing credit.

**A: and how is the writer supposed to repair credit with a future adjudicated foreclosure judgement on her credit report?
