Help with land question

What is the name of your state? VA

I don't know if I am asking this question on the right section or not... When my husband and I got married, we purchased a mobile home. My father-in-law said that we could place the mobile home on his land. When we got our loan, the bank had my father-in-law sign a paper giving them permission to come onto his property and take the mobile home if we didn't make our payments...
Ok, years later, my husband and I would to possible purchase a modular home. We would like to stay in the location that we are but right now the father-in-law says his not ready to sell us the land. This land will come to us sooner or later when he finally sells or dies (This is how it is wrote in my in-laws divorce papers, the land will come to my husband). Is there anyway we can put something on that land (with his permission of course). I mean is there anyway to get a loan for a house?? Thanks in advance for your help...

**A: yes there is. Have FIL give you a 100 year lease for the land.
