Question

HEMAP repay and credit report

What is the name of your state? PA

Background: In 1994, my late husband and I got mortgage help through a program in PA called HEMAP. The program helped us pay the mortgage for three years. As I recall, at the time, repayment began when our earnings reached a certain percentage of mortgage amount. Shortly after the three year period, we got a letter in the mail saying we had to pay X amount ( I don't remember how much) regardless of earnings. We were unable to do this and long story short, bankruptcy to foreclosure, husband passes away.

I am now planning on leaving the state in a year and would like to perhaps buy a small, older, one-story cottage/bungalow for my encroaching old age. I have pulled my credit report and have not found this debt to be listed in my report. What I want to know is this: will this HEMAP debt be a hindrance to my getting a mortgage in 3 - 4 years from now as I know that banks and mortgage companies seem to be able to get a more thorough credit report?

Thanks
