Question

How can I remove the name of a joint owner?

What is the name of your state? South Carolina
In 1990, I purchased a home along with my male lover. In 1993, we refinanced it. In 2001 he attempted suicide and failed, then he left and after 3 weeks came back. Attempted suicide again. He went into rehab for a period. 10 months later (May, 2002) he left again. No one, including his family, has heard from him since. How can I get his name off the deed so I can sell or even refinance the home, if I wanted to?

By having him sign a quit claim deed to you.

**A: since he is so bad at killing himself, hunt him down and do him a favor. But before you do, be sure that you title via joint tenancy.
