if your rental home is in foreclosure, are you required to still pay rent???What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OK THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! TO THOSE WHO REPLIED TO MY QUESTION ABOUT FORECLOSURE! I am still wondering though if we are still required to keep sending the landlords money? we are having to move soon, due to the home being in foreclosure. at what point do we STOP taking care of their family and START taking care of ours???? we have to come up with a deposit, moving costs, 1st and last month's rent on a new place. I am stressed TO THE MAX ABOUT THIS!!! PLEASE HELP!!! |

| yes you are required to pay your rent. Why would you not be? Why do you think that the landoirds problems with his life have anything to do with your problems in your life? If you received a modest windfall of $ would the landlord be in the right to advise you that you have a new & higher rent just because you can afford it? You COULD contact your landlord to see if they wold be willing to give you a break/reduction in yhour rent....just to help you out because of the impending doom. They are not in any way required to do so. If you do go deadbeat the landlord would be within his rights to pursue you for the amount owed plus costs & fees AND perhaps some of the remainder of the amount oftimeon the lease & a default on your credit report and a bad reference for tenancy that is certainly going to cost you dearly when you go looking for a new dwelling. If possible contact the landlords lender and inquire as to what they may be planning for when they take over the house. You might be able to extend your tenancy when you look for a new place. Sorry to hear about your situation, Good luck |
