| Insurance Claims Check South Carolina - My husband and I recently received a claim check from our insurance company for several items damaged by a hail storm that went through our area. The primary damage was to the roof and the insurance company gave us the amount to reshingle our home.
There was damage to the roof; however, my dad, who is a general contractor, says that there is no need to replace it now because although it has sustained damage that will affect its life, it is not to the extent that it needs to be replaced immediately (No leaking or structural problems). He says it may still last 5-10 years.
My question is ... Can my mortgage company make me replace the roof in order for them to endorse the check? Or can I save the money and see how long the existing roof lasts and then use the money to replace it when needed? |
