Joint Mortgage HELP!!What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania I have a mortgage with my now exboyfriend. He doesn't make the mortgage payments (and/or other household utilities) on time and that is if he pays them at all. I end up making the payments so that my credit doesn't get ruined. What options do I have to remove him and his name from the property? |

You can offer to refinance into your name only, and buy out his portion.

I have offered to buy his share and he won't agree to that.

Then you're pretty much SOL, since your last option is WAAAAAAAAAAY too expensive.

What would that WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY too expensive option be? Just curious. Also I read (see below) ... is this a possible option? "If you are listed on the title, you can bring a partition action to get the propterty divided between owners. If there are only 2 owners, then one will get the title and the other will get an equity interst in the property. That equity value is the market value of their percentage of ownership in the property less any liens. So, you can get the title and your friend ends up with a percentage interest. That way you can control the mortgage payments and not worry about losing the property. a real estate legal expert in your area would be able to tell you if this is an appropriate action in your situation."

That's the one. SeniorJudge said that it takes years and costs THOUSANDS of dollars to file. Good luck.
