liens / collections PA

What is the name of your state? PA

In a nutshell, hubby (unbeknownst to me) was in a bit of debt before we met and I did help him catch up. Outside of 2 liens on his home (one being a tax lien), I found 2 more credit cards that "charged off" his delinquent accounts to a total of about 7k. This event just happened this month.

When his home (we lived in my townhouse after we married) is finally on the market, and hopefully sells, will these credit cards come back for payment? I know the liens will need to be paid.

Yes, those with liens will be standing their in order of their seniority (the tax man is always at the head of the line, then as the liens are recorded, generally the mortgage first and then the others as they came).

"Chargeoff" means nothing as far as whether the lender CAN collect money. It just means for their own internal accounting purposes they've had to decide that it's unlikely they'll get this money (bad debt). That doesn't preclude a collection agency from trying to collect for a percentage. However, there is a time limit. You should probably ask about the chargeoffs over in the collections forum where there are people more familiar with those sorts of things.
