Morgage question

What is the name of your state? LA

I am in the process of buying a home, and as much reading as I have done on this matter a lot of the verbage is escaping me.

When the contract is drawn up, can I ask for a copy (BEFORE I SIGN) and bring to an independent real estate atty? I dont want to sign something not really knowing or understanding what i am signing, and dont want to take the word of a real estate agent or a morgage broker, both of whom make money on my signature. Since it can be explained to me one way and mean something else and since I am "ignorant" of this information, i can be dupped and later it would be a he said she said. Just trying to CMA on the single largest expense in my life, I want to make sure I do it right and not come back in 3 months begging for help cause i was dupped.

Thanks for any help

Yes, you can. It is always best to understand completely what you are attempting to do. If the mortgage rep or real estate agent says "no" - then definitely don't sign.

thank you. Any chance you can give me a ball park figure on how much a Real Estate Atty. would charge to just read a contract?
