mortgage company's mistake

What is the name of your state?Oregon Recently I refinanced, so my old loan was paid off, in full, by my new loan company. Yesterday, I received a letter from the old mortgage company saying that they had "inadvertently posted $10,000 to my account" about 8 months ago when I was still with them- and that now I need to pay them for it. Technically, that loan has been paid in full and is done. Is this legal? Am I obligated to pay for their mistake?
