mortgagee died

What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

My friend financed the mortgage on my house in oklahoma. We have a mortgage and promissory note in place. She passed away recently and there are no known heirs. How do I get the mortgage released? Is there a statute of limitations applicable to a mortgage/promissory note if an heir crops up in future? We're not planning on selling anytime soon. Thank you for your help.

Whose name is on the Deed? Yours, the friends, or both

Does the note specify what happens if the friend dies?

In my state the state would own any property not claimed, I think you need a quick consult with an Atty who can look over your paperwork and give you advice. To just asume you now own it free and clear might be a big mistake on your part.
