mother's debt

undefinedWhat is the name of your state?PA. my mother recently passed away, leaving me her house. little did i know that my mother was keeping a secret from me. she took out a 2nd mortgage on her house. now that the house is mine the mortgage company is coming after me for the money. do i owe this money? my name is not on the house. but i don't want to lose the house either what can i do? i knew nothing of the loan as i told the company but they are threatening to take control of the house. please help.

If you don't want to lose the home then pay the mortgage. Otherwise, the company will simply put a lien on the home and it will have to be paid if you ever sell.

If you don't want to pay it, then the company will simply foreclose.

Read the closing documents to see if mom purchased mortgage insurance.
