| In need of mortgage advice!!!!

I'm trying to find answers to help a friend of mine. He and his ex-girlfriend bought a house with both names on the mortgage, not sure if it's a joint mortgage or tenants in common. He wants to know if he can change the locks since he's been paying the mortgage ever since he got the house and has receipts of all the payments. She no longer lives at the house and is worried that she might come in the house and take all his possessions again. He wants to keep the house but wants no affiliation with her, but not sure if he can refinance on his own. Is there any way he can just get her off the mortgage with out refinancing?
