I filed chapter 13 bankruptcy to save my home from foreclosure and debt relief on advice from my attorney. The bank would not negotiate and forclosed on my home. I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy on advice from my attorney. I had equity in the home and did not know that after all is paid, anything left would be mine. That was 2 years ago. Yesterday, a man came to my door representing a holding company from 500 miles away and offered me his services in retrieving my money from the sale of my house ! My questions are ; where is the money, who has the money and why do I not know anything about this ! Who is responsible for this ?

What did your attorney say when you asked him these questions?

My atty never mentioned a thing about it and he knew that there was equity. He was merely a bankruptcy mill. I want to know how I can find info without an atty. If that is possible.

Okay, now, what money? What was your house sold for, and what was owed on the house, including the thousands of dollars in attorney fees, and the other fees, that were added when you got behind on your house payment? If there was so much money available, why didn't you hire a realtor, and sell your house, instead of letting it go into foreclosure?
