Sticky situation with ex...

What is the name of your state? Virginia

My ex-fiance (didn't get married) and I had bought a house together. Without personal details, he dumped me for another person who moved into the house with him. They got married and are pregnant. The verbal (not written) deal was that since he was living there, he would pay 1200$ rent for the house per month and we'd split the remainder of the mortgage as equity payment. I know - get everything in writing - hindsight.

The problem: He decided last month, without telling me, that he couldn't pay his part anymore and took my payment to move himself/wife out to a different residence, not paying anything on the monthly payment and intending to send the house into foreclosure. I can't afford the house on my own, both of our names are on it, and he doesn't care about either of our credit hits or repercussions and says I'm fortunate he wasn't making me pay 1/2 the mortgage while he lived there. To make matters more sticky, he has a family of realtors/high-profile-lawyers....I know no one in that area.

Can someone tell me what my options are, or are my hands just tied?
Does anyone know the repercussions of foreclosure in Virginia? What is the name of your state?

From the description, your only option is selling the house. Foreclosure will be bad for both of you.

Maybe the high power realtor relatives can assist you.
