Stolen property during forclosure

What is the name of your state? Michigan
My house was sold at public auction January 12. We had 6 months to pay off the house. The morgage company hired someone to clean out our shed, house and change all the locks. They did it on January 12. They took evrything we had stored in our shed, and took whatever they wanted out of the house. They are wanting to settle out of court for $1,800. I think that's very low considering they took a lot of things that can't be replaced. What should we do?

I am sure they gave you plenty of notice to have things cleaned out prior to January 12th, especially those irreplaceable items. I'm sure you have a list of the items and their fair market value to give to them.

We had until July 12 to get our things out, not January 12.

You aren't alone.

When are you people going to actually realize that this happens all the time. The "law" is totally absent on Mortgage servicing fraud. There is no regulating body for these ruthless servicers. They think they are above the law. I guess they figure there isn't much a broke homeless former homeowner can do to stop them.

PLUS the entire country has half a handful of lawyers who know anything about this new white collar crime. I have talked to hundreds of lawyers & the have NO CLUE.
