is there anyway of getting out of this situation?

What is the name of your state? il.

A couple years before I met my boyfriend his parents filed bankruptcy, and in the process lost the house. Seeing as his parents and younger brother had no place to live, he dropped out of college and was able to get a mortage and house in his name for everyone to live in. About this time last year they refinanced the house and he was put on the loan as a co-signer, with his parents being the main signers. Last month he was told that by the end of this month (Febuary 08) they would refinance again and he could be completely taken off of the mortage. This came as a huge relief to him as his parents are complusive gamblers and he has been worried sick for the past year and a half that I have known him that he was going to held resposible for this loan if they defulted. Well last wednesday his mother lost her job. They are both refusing to refinance the house (claiming that they can't because she has no job), and they have been away at a casino for the past 4 days. Needless to say he is a nervous reck and completely depressed as calls from the mortgage company are already coming in. Is there anyway that he can get out of this? Especially since there is no way he is going to be able to make the payments.

Sorry about this mess you guys are in. If his name is on the mortgage, there is no way of getting out of this situation. At least not that I know of. These banks don't want to hear the story, they just want their money.
