Bad neighbor!

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

the neighbors two houses over, we live in townhouses, has been extremely rude and inconsiderate lately, more than usual.

First, my mother overheard (window was open) the person talking to another neighbor about her and saying bad and untrue things. There was a verbal confrontation through the window.

There is a large tree that is in front of our house and our next door neighbors house. Recently, a family member caught the neighbor (two doors down) cutting branches off of the tree. Note the tree, any part, is not in front of their house. When confronted, the family started verbally abusing my mother (she was the only one home at the time). When this ended, everyone went back inside.

My father comes home from work and notices her (neighbor) watching him from the upstairs window. When she sees him look up, she quickly goes away from the window. Everytime one of us goes outside in the front of the house or back of the house/deck, she either is looking outside or goes out on her deck to watch us.

Again today, my mother and I went out (when we went to the car the neighbor was also outside, of course) and when we came home the bushes directly in front of our house, only ours, were pretty much butchered.

Since these are townhouses, we have 3 feet in front of the house that is actually ours. Everything else is common property, all trees and bushes cut were not in front of their house at all an on common property.

What actions can we take against them? I was thinking of course letting the management know. Also reporting them for stalking and harassment and getting a restraining order. The problem is with her (spying, talking) and her son who visits (cutting).

Report tree cutting to management since you have a witness. They can talk all they want about you, it's a free country. Likewise they're free to look out their window any time they want to. If you want privacy, get some blinds.

If they start following you to work or something, that's stalking.

The Management does not do anything. They never return calls, they say they send out memos, but nobody gets them, they put in placed rules and don't enforce them.
